Pharmacology

Dermovate Ointment contains Clobetasol Propionate, a very potent corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune response in the skin. Clobetasol achieves its effects by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines and prostaglandins. Its anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties help alleviate symptoms like redness, swelling, and itching in steroid-responsive skin conditions.

Dermovate Ointment is designed for the treatment of conditions such as psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), eczema, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, and other dermatoses unresponsive to less potent corticosteroids.

Instructions for Use

• For external use only.
• Apply a thin layer of Dermovate Ointment to the affected area once or twice daily. Gently rub it into the skin.
• Do not exceed 4 weeks of continuous use. If necessary, treatment can be resumed with medical advice.
• Allow adequate time for the ointment to be absorbed before applying moisturizers or other products.
• For resistant lesions, the effect can be enhanced by covering the treated area with a plastic film for overnight occlusion, if advised by your doctor.
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes. Wash hands thoroughly after application.

Contraindications

• Do not use Dermovate Ointment if you:
  • Are allergic to Clobetasol Propionate or any of the listed excipients.
  • Have untreated skin infections, rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, or pruritus without inflammation.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting a doctor.
  • Are treating a child under 1 year of age.

Warnings

• Prolonged use may cause skin thinning or systemic effects.
• Use with caution on sensitive areas like the face or near the eyes.
• Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, or areas prone to infections.
• Flammable: Avoid contact with flames or smoking due to the paraffin content.
